Job Summary

We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager who is experienced at growing and enabling teams to build high availability, global solutions for consumers and enterprises. As Software Engineering Manager for our Dentrix Ascend Practice Management Solution, you will be a self-motivated individual who influences and executes technical strategic objectives, while representing your department across the wider business groups.

We are elevating our deployment frequency and technical practices – shipping effortlessly on demand. We seek to master scrum, and our company runs a 6-week cycle that enables us to solve real problems for our users and their patients, while balancing technical debt, bugs, innovation, and team growth. Our teams are directly responsible for making decisions that will improve oral care services for thousands of dental professionals and their patients.

What You Will Do

  • Leading mission focused teams of software engineers to improve the lives of Henry Schein One users and their patients through the creation of market leading solutions
  • Help recruit and retain engineers to create a high performing engineering team
  • Oversee team leaders and support them on their mission and delivery commitments
  • Enable your engineering teams to practice continuous delivery at scale by removing workflow roadblocks
  • Inspire, motivate and coach to enable continuous development of team leaders and their teams
  • Ensure products are secure, compliance and reliable for Henry Schein One customers
  • Collaborate with senior leaders across vision and strategy for your workstreams and products
  • Work closely with Product leadership to influence and understand strategic commitments of your teams
  • Develop meaningful relationships and work across the business to influence others to aim for the best possible user experience
  • Enable process and practice maturity to deliver on global growth opportunities
  • Positively and collaboratively influence decision making to improve practices with your teams, department and stakeholder network

What You Will Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of progressive software development experience
  • 1–2 years leading high-performing teams in remote/hybrid environments
  • Proven success building scalable web applications for large user bases
  • Hands-on experience with modern SPA frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js, Ember.js)
  • Strong background in database technologies (Postgres, SQL Server)
  • Deep understanding of RESTful API design and integration
  • Experience connecting with internal and third-party services
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to lead, influence, and thrive in a hybrid work culture
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and reliable
