Sr. Product Marketing Manager

About the Role

This position is responsible for driving product marketing strategies that align the sales and marketing teams to the overall product goals and objectives. Work closely with product managers and cross-functional teams on new releases and general marketing activity preparedness. Produce documents to guide program marketing, including marketing requirement documents, positioning documents, launch plans and competitive briefs. Expert in buyers, how they buy and their buying criteria and be able to transfer that knowledge to the marketing team and sales channel. Provide the sales team with sales enablement tools to improve effectiveness and ensure customers are paired with appropriate solutions to best meet their needs.
 

  • Develop product positioning documents based on a clear understanding of the customer needs, product differentiators and competitive landscape to differentiate products and services in the market

  • Work with the Product Manager to develop product positioning that aligns with the business strategy

  • Develop launch plans and messaging maps to clearly define the product marketing strategy and unique value proposition for relevant buyer personas

  • Help the sales team understand the value proposition and competitive advantages of each solution and provide the team with the necessary tools for identifying customer needs and the proper solutions to meet those needs

  • Develop release plans to ensure proper market alignment and the successful introduction of new products and services into the market

  • Serve as an expert on buyers, buyer personas and buying criteria to effectively create marketing strategies that beat the competition

  • Work closely with the program marketing team to develop strategies and priorities for demand generation

  • Create and maintain product/market requirement documents, white papers, messaging maps, launch plans and other documents necessary for the continual exposure of products and services to the market

  • Work with Product Management and Marketing to deliver sales collateral, presentations, data sheets, white papers, website content, webinars, seminars and customer success stories

  • Understand how current customers are benefiting from the product and leverage this information to further sales efforts in terms of case studies, sales training, referrals and collateral.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional organizations (marketing, product management, sales, education, and training) in creating go-to-market plans.

  • Serve as a thought leader for interactive marketing activities, written content and online activity

  • Assist in creating baseline marketing performance metrics and setting marketing campaign goals

  • Provide the sales team with materials for presenting at sales channel events, tradeshows and user conferences

Qualifications

  • Typically 8 or more years of increasing responsibility and complexity in terms of any applicable professional experience.
  • Typically a Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent in related discipline. 
  • Creative, out-of-the-box marketing thinker with a foundation in technology (software) and experience in the healthcare and/or dental industry
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in 11 of the 15 categories in the Pragmatic Marketing Framework that are aligned with product marketing management

  • Exhibit an ability to mentor and teach product managers in 9 of the 15 categories aligned with product marketing management including Customer Acquisition and Customer Retention as required categories

  • Working knowledge of product marketing tools, including launch plans, messaging maps, positioning documents, MRDs and competitive briefs

  • Ability to deliver presentations in small and large group settings

  • Ability to influence and motivate individuals and teams that are not in subordinate roles

  • Ability to initiate, perform and analyze market research projects

    Excellent understanding of industry practices

  • Strong proficiency with tools, systems, and procedures

  • Excellent planning/organizational skills and techniques

  • Excellent independent decision making, analysis and problem solving skills

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Bonus Qualifications
  • Master's degree or global equivalent preferred. May hold two or more industry certifications.
Travel/Physical Demands
Travel typically less than 10%. Office environment. No special physical demands required.

The posted range for this position is $117,000-$136,000, which is the expected starting base salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity, etc. This position is eligible for a target bonus not reflected in the posted range.
